Pneuma, choreography by Carolyn Carlson
Pneuma - Air and dreams Choreography by Carolyn Carlson Opéra National de Bordeaux Ballet Composer, Gavin Gryars National Bordeaux Aquitaine orchestra Conductor, Pieter-Jelle de Boer In March 1999, Carolyn Carlson and the Opéra de Bordeaux ballet premiered 'Hydrogen Jukebox', a fascinating choreography with music by Philip Glass. The choreographer is back this season with an exciting project drawing its inspiration from an essay by French philosopher Gaston Bachelard, 'Air and dreams'. This time the music is by Gavin Bryars, a 'post-minimalist' composer who previously worked with William Forsythe, Lucinda Childs, Maguy Marin, Jirí Kylián and Merce Cunningham. Carlson's choreography explores the duality of the human being, between body and soul, gravity and elevation, matter and mind. An ode to human nature, at once passionate and poetic. Recorded at the Opéra National de Bordeaux on March 2014 TV Director, Yan Proefrock

Melanie de Biasio - Montreal Jazz Festival
MELANIE DE BIASIO This Belgian siren turned the jazz world upside down with her breathtaking album, No Deal. Singer-flautist Mélanie De Biasio summons the suspended pop style of Talk Talk, the erudite blues of Nina Simone, the eminent lyricism of Jeff Buckley and the ambience of Portishead and Pink Floyd, all of it pierced by majestic moments of silence. Her deep, shaded voice seems to have come from Elsewhere, casting an ethereal spell that has earned her the nickname 'the Belgian Billie Holiday.' Magic! Melanie de Biasio (lead) Pascal Paulus (vintage synths) Pascal Mohy (piano) Samuel Gerstmans (double bass)
